Katedra Fotografii Uniwersytetu Artystycznego w Poznaniu organizuje międzynarodowy przegląd książek fotograficznych, studentów i absolwentów uczelni artystycznych. Wystawa BOOKI. Studying Photobooks w Galerii SKALA prezentuje najnowsze, zrealizowane w ostatnich dwóch latach, publikacje autorskie studentów i absolwentów uczelni z Anglii, Norwegii, Niemiec, Czech i Słowacji. Wśród dziesiątek wydawnictw, wybranych przez naszych partnerów, znajdują się unikalne i często nieprezentowane dotąd szerszej publiczności, książki autorskie, ziny, zeszyty, itp. Wystawa odbywa się w ramach festiwalu książek fotograficznych XPRINT, towarzyszą jej warsztaty, spotkanie w Bibliotece Wydziału Fotografii, a także dyskusja na temat znaczenia i funkcjonowania papierowych publikacji oraz kształcenia specjalistycznego w zakresie wydawnictw fotograficznych. Od kilku lat studenci fotografii UAP realizują prace w formie książek autorskich – chcąc umożliwić im pełniejsze kształcenie w tym zakresie, Katedra Fotografii utworzyła specjalność fotografia edytorska, realizowaną na kierunku fotografia, na którą nabór rozpocznie się w czerwcu 2018. Wystawa w Galerii SKALA jest okazją do zbudowania międzynarodowej sieci uczelni partnerskich, służącej wymianie doświadczeń, współpracy studentów i pedagogów.
The Department of Photography at the University of Arts in Poznań holds an international review of photography books, by students and graduates of art schools. The exhibition BOOKI. Studying Photobooks at the SKALA Gallery presents the latest publications made in the last two years by students and graduates of universities from England, Norway, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Among dozens of publications, selected by our partners, there are unique and often not presented to a wider audience books, zines, notebooks, etc. The exhibition takes place as part of the XPRINT festival of photography books, is accompanied by workshops, a meeting in the Library of the Photography Department, and a discussion on the meaning and functioning of paper publications and specialist education in the field of photography publications. For several years, photography students at UAP have been producing works in the form of author’s books — in order to enable them to be more fully educated in this area, the Department of Photography has created a specialization in editorial photography, pursued at the faculty of photography, for which recruitment will begin in June 2018. The exhibition at the SKALA Gallery is an opportunity to build an international network of partner universities for the exchange of experiences, cooperation between students and educators.
Course „Creation of photobook” focuses on integration of photography and graphic design of photobook. Unique conception of the course helps students to understand better the process of creating photobook, esence of making visual dramaturgy and prepare their visual story into the book form.

Instead of regarding the photobook merely as a collection of photographs in book form, we focus on the notion of ‘photobookwork’, as first theorised by Alex Sweetman, within the general context of artist’s books. Ours is an ‘indie’ approach to self-publishing, combining digital design with in-house printing and hand-made bindings, in order to produce limited editions that are both collectible and affordable.

Polem działania szczególnie fascynującym, bo zaspokajającym potrzebę bezpośredniego kontaktu z obrazem. Materialność książki zniewala, wymagając wnikliwszego wglądu w zawarte w niej fotografie.
